Congrats to everyone! I hope everyone was able to walk away from the 2012 State Finals with good memories. I know it didn't turn out like some had planned, but I all we all gave it our best.

Congrats to Jules Corvell for her second place individuals finish!

Also congrats to Kelsey McGorisk on her third place individuals finish!

The boys took home a respectable third place. While the girls continued their dominance with another 1st place win. I believe this puts the girls at 2 seasons of being undefeated!

I'm posting pictures as I get them. Check the blog for picture posts. If you have any pics you want to share, let me know and we'll figure out a way to get them on the blog.

Thank you to all the parents that brought food and took pictures. Thanks to Asst Coach Brian for waxing every race day. And thanks to you all for a fun season.

Individual Qualifiers

Here are the riders who qualified for the Individual Race happening the friday morning of States. Lakeland has a very strong presence!

The race will be a single elimination style. With the 1st and 2nd place riders moving on to the next round. 32 riders start. Narrowing down to the final 4.

I just found out that tickets will be $26. You DO NOT buy them at the ticket window. We will meet in the lodge and get tickets there. 8 am in the lodge at Brighton.

There is not electrical on the hill. If there is, it is VERY limited. So we'll set up food and such in the lodge.

Also - here is the list of those who have volunteered for food:

Corvell's can bring plates, napkins, and silverware.

Tolmans will bring some gatorades (36)

Grant  -  cookies

DeBerry - I will bring Gatorade and juice boxes and some cups

Nate Shureb - Pasta Salad & Case of Gatorade

Dudas - Donuts

Locher - folding table and fruit ... (coach note: I don't think we'll need the table)

I do recommend to bring folding chairs for any parents that want to watch. And if anyone has a portable heater - that is allowed on the hill. Temps look to be in the high 20's low 30's for tomorrow. Just keep in mind that it is a little bit of a walk to the race hill.

Usually racing ends around 3-4 pm. Depending on delays for injuries.

Great job team - we're ALL going to the State Finals! Everyone is able to go. I will be sending a list to the Athletic Department to excuse the entire team for friday.

Race Results

Tonite is the Individuals Time Trials. It's a one-at-a-time run. Best of 2 runs if you choose to take two. The fastest 16 boys and 16 girls will race on friday morning. This is NOT a team race. It's a single elimination race to crown the fastest rider in the league.

Starts at 5pm ... sounds like the girls will run first. If you want to run early, get in line early. It's very informal. I won't be taking attendance. Just show up, go to the top and take your runs.

The Divisional Race is one Meet consisting of 3 races. The top two teams go on to the State Finals at Mt Brighton this friday. If you aren't racing I still expect you to come out and support the team. Let your team-mates know you're there! Remember - I always need backups in case of injury or equipment problems.

Time trials are wednesday @ 5pm at alpine for those who wish to qualify for the Individual Race the morning of States. Anyone can qualify, even if our team doesn't make it to states. The fastest 16 boys and girls qualify. Best of 2 runs.

Tuesday is the Divisional Final! Top 2 teams go to the State Final. It will be one meet with 3 races. We'll need to bring our top game. Right now it's a toss up on who is going. I will post the lineup Monday.

Wednesday is the Individuals Time Trial. I haven't what the format will be yet. I will let you know when I hear.

We cannot afford to have ANY DQ's at the Divisional OR State Finals. Look at the Score Sheet and see what a DQ gets .... 0 points. That can be HUGE in the Alpha flights. Any DQ means that the rest of the team needs to make up the loss. So, if you even THINK you missed a gate. Stop and go back. 5 place is better than 0 points!
