State Finals

OK - It seems like there may be some miscommunication about the State Finals .... so here's what's happening.

February 7th is the Divisional Qualifier at Alpine - Normal race time. The top 2 teams from this race will go on to the State Finals. Both BOYS and GIRLS teams qualify separately. 

February 8th is the Individual State Final Time Trial. This is a one-at-a-time TIMED run where the fastest 16 boys and the fastest 16 girls from ALL the teams combined will go on to race the MORNING of the State Final. So even if your team doesn't make it to the State Final, you can still qualify for the INDIVIDUAL race.

February 9th - Wax party at night (more info to be announced - anyone want to volunteer their house?)

February 10th - 9am - 4pm - State Finals at Mt. Brighton in Brighton - The Individual Race will run in the morning. Team races will be in the afternoon. The whole team will be invited. EVEN if you are not racing. A discounted lift ticket is available. More info to come when it gets closer.

Sorry for the short notice. Trying to get everything squeezed into our short season ... but please plan on getting your team picture taken at Alpine at 4pm tuesday before the race (weather permitting). Meet at the finish shack as always.

It's all free and I'll post up all the high-resolution pictures so you can download what you like and get them printed where ever you like. Everyone seemed to like that we did it this way last year.

Course Officials Wanted

Team Parents...

We are in need of course officials for our races. In order for fair judging, we are looking for representatives from all of the schools involved. It would mean walking up to some point of the hill and watching the race for issues. We will train you and teach you what to look for. 

If you are interested, please see me before the race on tuesday and we'll get you set up! Dress warm!

We will be running 2 races per meet. With a VERY short break in between meets.

Boys and Girls first place for the first race of the season. Great job everyone!

Race TODAY!

Meet at the bottom of the race hill at 5pm. Sign in with me. No one leaves the bottom until I give the go-ahead to start to practice on the course. I also want everyone to stay for the whole race and for a short meeting afterword.

Practice cancelled 1-17-12

We are just having HORRIBLE luck. Alpine is closed all day today.

We will have our first practice with the start gate Thursday 1-19. Again at 5:30... meet at 5pm on the top of the hill.... 

First race is now scheduled for 1-24. We will be doubling up races once we're able to, to make up for the days we've lost.

The gates are up, i didnt get the chance to help set them but they are in, the hill has lots of snow (hopefully rain doesnt change that) the course looks like it will have lots of rollers and burms so be ready

High School fun Invitational

Attached you will find an invite to an Annual High School Snowboardcross Invitational. It's at Otesgo Club on January 27th. Yes - FRIDAY.

This is NOT a school-sponsored event. Just something fun put on for High School students. Get some great experience at probably the best boardercross course in Michigan.

1-17-12 Practice

I hear that the start gate should be set up. Brian was up there and was going to help get it set in. Not sure if we'll have a course or not, but we may be able to at least practice with the gate.

So for right now, plan on meeting at the top of the race hill at 5:15. Sign in with me. We'll begin running the gate at 5:30.

Hopefully we'll have our first official race thursday.

1-12-12 Practice CANCELLED

Alpine is closed for the day ... we're getting a bad hand for weather this year. Hopefully it turns around for the rest of the season.

See you at 5:30 at the top of the race hill on 1/17/12 (tuesday) for our FIRST time running with the gate. BE ON TIME. Have your mouthguards, jerseys and helmets. You cannot run without ANY of them.

Practice 1/10/12

I just received an email from the League Director that the start gate has not been installed. First race has now been rescheduled to 1/17. This gives us more time to practice.

So we will meet tuesday 1/10 at 5:30 in the upper lodge. I am bringing waxing equipment to go over with any that would like to see it. After that, we will do some on-hill training.

These practices are MANDATORY. I expect everyone to be there WITH JERSEY ON. And I expect everyone to be there for THE ENTIRE PRACTICE. Many have been leaving whenever they feel like it, or going off and doing your own thing. You are required to stay with the team. If you need to leave early, you need to OK it with Brian or I.

I will be taking attendance form here on out. Attendance and participation WITH THE TEAM will be a major factor in how you will be placed for racing. I will be keeping track during practice of who is there, and who is not.

1-5-12 Practice

Wear your jersey!!! Meet in the lodge at 5:30 up stairs. The start gate is not installed yet. Though I hear it may get done this weekend.

For those that are missing information, this is your LAST chance. I expect to do time trials tuesday. If you are STILL missing paperwork by 1/10/12 (tuesday) you will no longer be able to practice or race with the team. This is now 1 month PAST the due date to get the required paperwork in!

Please see me at the meeting to go over paperwork you may be missing.

Practice 1/3/12 5:30pm

Meet in the Lodge upstairs where we met last time. We'll go over some rules and instruction inside. Then go outside for training. It's COLD so dress warm!

There won't be a time trial today. My best guess is that we won't happen until next week ...

Tuesday January 3 Practice/Time Trials

Still haven't gotten the word as to what will be going on for tuesday. At the least we will have a practice. Which will be very important since we haven't had much chance to get training in. If the time trials will go, I'll have to explain it to those that have never done it before.

I have posted the 2012 Rule Book on the blog. Please take a moment to check it out.

Also - it seems there was some confusion about the mouth guards ... all mouth guards must be a COLOR. NOT clear. Mouth guards and helmets are required for racing.

Please make sure all of your required information is turned in to the Athletic department. If you have anything missing, you will NOT be allowed to Time Trial or Race.

Plan on being READY TO GO at 5pm on Tuesday. I'll send a message out tomorrow about where we should meet.
