well ... after the horrible turnout for last weeks optional practice, there will be no practice for tomorrow. See you all January 5th. Hopefully the gate will be set and we can practice starts.
Remember - Time trials are January 7th. Wax your board if you want to place well!

Tuesday Vacation Practice
Just a reminder ... I'll be up at Alpine at 6pm in case anyone is available to practice. It's not mandatory, but if you want more input this is a good time to take advantage of a few extra runs.

Team Captains
Congrats to the 2009/2010 Team Captains:
Tom Hall
Taylor Demming
That was a great practice last night. We still have a lot to work on, but we need some terrain. So hopefully Alpine will make some progress on the park. They look like they're pretty close.
I forgot to say in the meeting that we'll be available next tuesday the 22nd to practice (normal time 6pm). It's not mandatory as I know a lot of you are going out of town, but if you're around I'll be up there. I believe Cody will too.
I'll be ordering the hoodies within the next week so we can hopefully have them when you get back from break.

December 19 and 20 ...
The Otsego Club will be opening its doors to anyone with skis or a snowboard at a cost of only $10 for a full-day lift ticket (children 8 and under ride for free) during their opening weekend on December 19-20. Join us in re-welcoming the Middle Earth Snow Series slopestyle snowboard event! The event will be open to snowboarders of all ages and feature prizes from K2, Lib Tech, GNU, Rossignol, and many more. Otsego Club guests can try out their new “snowskate park” just outside the Otsego Lodge; and if snowboarders get too cold but still want something to do they can step inside the Otsego Resort and skateboard in their 30’ indoor mini-bowl.

Alpine is STILL blowing snow
So hopefully the boardercross course will get made soon, or at least over the break. If you're up at the hill over the break, take a run over there and see if it's set up. Especially if the start gate is there and set. Get some practice pulls in as soon as possible! A good strong start is everything for these short courses.
We'll be voting for the team captains today. Doing a possible short wax clinic too if the room is open to do it.

Practice tonite - 12/15
OK - I know the conditions may not be great. So, if you are going to buy a ticket tonite, wait until after the meeting ... that way we can assess the conditions and decide if we'll do on-hill training or not.
But we still will meet at 6pm in the upper floor of the lodge. We will at least vote on captains and do some instructional on boardercross rules. Possibly a wax clinic.

Hoodie orders DUE THURSDAY
Each team member will receive one with their last name on the back. I need the form I emailed to everyone filled out with your size on it. I want to get this order in very soon, so I'd like to have all forms in by Thursday.
Also - If you would like additional hoodies - for family or whomever - the cost is $30 each. There is a spot on the form for additional orders.
If you are not ordering additional hoodies and just want to email me back with your Last name (so I make sure it's spelled correctly) and your size, that would work too.
We'll have a Captain election tomorrow before practice. Right now here is the list of people running for captain:
Mens Team:
Tad Reiner
Chris Reid
Drew Morelli
Jonathon Privett
Womens Team:
Brittanie Kupras
Jules Corvel
also - EVERYONE should have ALL of their forms turned in by now. NO EXCUSES. I will not order a hoodie for you unless you have paid your team fee. And NO ONE will do a time trial unless you have ALL documents in.

Intersted in becoming a Team Captain?
Cody and I have been talking about electing team captains for this year. One for the guys team, and one for the girls.
The team captains' main responsibilites would be help the coaches keep everyone up to speed and to also pass information along to teammates and to the school for announcements. A captain should also be willing to help on raceday to make sure the team is ready and riders know what gate they are running in.
If you are interested in running for team captain, please email me. I will take everyone's name that is interested and we'll do a team vote next week.
see you tuesday.

Practice Thursday
We'll meet again in the lodge at 6pm and have a short meeting. Then we'll go over everyone's gear to make sure it's set up correctly. If you have a screwdriver, bring it. I'll have a couple with me.
After the gear-check, we'll run through some drills in carving.
Remember - I need EVERYONE to get their required documents in. AND you need a helmet.

Practice tomorrow (tues) 6pm
OK Everyone ...
Alpine is now open and blowing snow. The weather looks good all week for them to get a lot of snow down on the hills.
So we'll start practice this tuesday. Meet in the upper floor of the lodge at 6pm. We'll have a short meeting and then get out on the hill. We'll probably practice until 8pm ... but this depends on the conditions.
We will not be practicing the week of Christmas and New Year. But hopefully you can still get out and ride during the break.
See you tomorrow.

Wax Clinic at Nichols Ski & Snowboard Shop
Get Race Ready!!!
Swix Wax Night
Nichols Ski & Snowboard Shop
4260 Walton Blvd. Waterford
Wednesday Dec. 9th 6-9p.m.
Tuesday, December 1, 2009
It's getting cold.
Hopefully everyone has all of their information turned in by now. If not, please get it in to the Athletic Department ASAP!
The temps are dropping and I'm sure Alpine will be blowing snow soon. And as soon as we can, we'll get on the hill to start training.
Check out all the videos you can on YouTube with snowboardcross or boardercross in the title. Watch what the top riders do. Visualization is an important part of training.
Now is also a good time to look over your gear. Check all the binding screws. Wax your board. Sharpen the edges. Make sure your boots still fit. Put some new stickers on your deck or helmet.

Learn from the Master
Shaun Palmer
Watch this video and learn from one of the masters of Boardercross (yellow jersey). One of the smoothest and most natural riders in the sport. Notice how low he is and how he pumps EVERY transition for speed.
